Murray & D'Vine

Brand New Burger Experience

Murray_20090920_00006

It's EJ's birthday and we had lunch at Murray & D'Vine at Serendra. I was so excited since I wanted to try the Veggie Burger in their menu. I have been eyeing this place for quite some time, but we always don't get to eat here because of my diet.

I like the orange and violet sign outside. It exudes a contradicting feeling of casual and classiness. Upon entering the place, we were led to the loft. The place can accommodate around 25 people and around 15 more people in the tables outside.

The place is known for the SLIDERS (3 little guys and fries). A slider is composed of three little burgers of your choice stuck on to a metal skewer. EJ ordered a combination of the Wagyu Burger, the Spicy Beef and the Chicken Burger (P400+).

EJ tried the Chicken Burger first. The chicken burger had a tangy taste but was pretty good. The Wagyu burger was okay (not exemplary as I expected). The waiter recommended we try this since it's their specialty. We think Wagyu by itself is already very tender. Turning it into a burger doesn't really make sense. EJ liked the spicy beef the most. It tasted like chili con carne in a bun!

I ordered, of course, the Veggie Burger (Php 275). I loved it! I have tried other Veggie Burgers that have patties that try so hard to taste like meat. I liked this burger since it didn't just not pretend, it reveled in it's veggie-ness. You can actually see the corn, the carrots and the other vegetables combined to make the patty. It had quite a strong flavor, so unlike other veggie burgers. But everything still tasted pretty good and perfect for a burger.

The presentation was very appealing -- talk about unique! My burger was heart-shaped. The slider was also very presentable and it looked good with the fries placed in a glass ice cream cone shaped container.

The waiters were attentive. I like the ambiance. I was very relaxed and comfortable.

I'd come back just to try the other burgers that they have and I'll probably try it in a Slider. Try it if you're looking for a unique burger experience!

Jollibee Chicken Barbecue

2-pc chicken meal

I've been waiting to try this new Jollibee dish eversince I saw the ads on TV and the posters being set up at a nearby Jollibee branch near our office. I finally got to try one last friday. The chicken and java rice combo is reminiscent of Aristocrat's famous barbecue chicken or Reyes' barbecue's (these two being owned by the same family if I am not mistaken).

solo meal

However, the similarity ends there. Although the chicken meat was tender and the skin was moist, the marinade used to flavor the chicken was reaaaallly sweet. Dipping it with the barbecue sauce made the chicken even sweeter. The whole dish was "nakakaumay".

I've also been thinking that the chicken must have been cooked in a turbo broiler or even baked because it did not have the consistency and the char of a chicken that's been barbecued. The java rice was so-so.

I had really high hopes for this dish but I'm sure that
this must still be at the testing stage and further improvements will still be done. For the meantime, I'll have the old reliable Chickenjoy instead.

A 1-pc solo meal costs Php69 while the 2-pc solo meal is Php119. Add Php 20 to add drinks. What do you think about this dish? Is it a hit or miss?

The Crukitchen

Blissful. Tempting. Mouth-watering.

Crukitchen

Being on a low carb diet stops you from enjoying deserts. Then you feel like you want to just stop and eat all the ice cream, chocolate chip cookies and cakes that you want. So in an effort to find the best of both worlds, I explored the world of sugar-free treats and deserts.

I have tried different kinds of sugar-free cookies, brownies, ice cream, etc. but this cookie is my favorite. I would jump for joy when I see them at the Baker's fair in Rockwell.

The Crukitchen (Classic Recipes Unlimited) has the answer to your cravings for sweet things when you are on a diet. I highly recommend the Sugar Free Double Chocolate Chip Cookies at Php 200.

Crukitchen

It is delish and it tastes like the real thing. What I love about it are the huge chunks of chocolate embedded on the cookie. When taking a bit, you'd feel your teeth biting on a half of a piece of chocolate! It has around two to three pieces of this chunky chocolate in the cookie.
